Our Story

John Brass was founded in 1986 by John Manuel, a caring husband and father who began by collecting, fixing, and reselling items from scrap yards around Cape Town.
With his wife Jo, he initially sold at the Green Point flea market before opening a shop in Salt River, where they specialised in plumbing supplies. Over time, their daughter Linda joined, and the business evolved, with Gino expanding the brass offerings and Linda focusing on antiques.
After John's passing in 2007, Linda and Gino continued his legacy. Recently, due to a city council eviction from Salt River Market, they relocated to 3 Wrensch Road, Observatory, on April 8, 2024. The John Brass team thanks their supporters and looks forward to welcoming them to the new location.
